Kinky Boots At The Adelphi Theatre

Get Your Heels At The Ready and EVERYBODY SAY YEAH!

There’s one thing I can say about Kinky Boots and it’s that this show will certainly raise you up! Get your best outfit on and your heels at the ready: Kinky Boots certainly takes the prize as the sassiest show on the West End. The show is inspired by true events as well as based on the 2005 movie of the same name, featuring a true, homegrown story, set between Northampton and Soho.

Our story follows Charlie (David Hunter) due to unforeseen circumstances has to take over the failing family shoe factory, selling basic shoes (apparently the most beautiful thing in the world, I can tell you these shoes were far from beautiful!!) Later, Charlie chances upon the fabulous drag queen Lola in the streets of London, Lola played with spark and glamour by The Voice star Matt Henry. Henry’s flawless vocals and a supporting troupe of drop dead gorgeous Angels with long legs and killer dance moves, make for an incredible introduction to ‘Land of Lola.’ When Charlie decides to save the family factory by making heels for drag queens, the two worlds collide, but do opposites attract? Hunter’s solo, ‘The Soul of a Man’ is pure rock star power and his portrayal is heart warming. With hit songs such as ‘Sex Is In The Heel’, ‘Everybody Say Yeah’ and ‘What a Woman Wants’ to have you singing along and the much more heart felt songs such as ‘Not My Fathers Son’ and ‘Hold Me In Your Heart’ this show will have you on a musical roller coaster of emotions and no matter what you’ll be enjoying the ride.

The show on a whole is simply wonderful and so feel good, I was dancing in my seat and admiring the gorgeous drag queens with their sparkles, bedazzled boots, diamonds and thigh high boots. There aren’t many shows that will make you want to grab your friends, dress up and go dancing in your sassy shoes, but I left feeling free almost. The show sends an message away with it’s audiences… to accept people for who they are. And actually the show reflects that although it sounds easy, it can actually be difficult to do, the story, the music, the costumes, the drag queens, the dancing, the show is pretty self explanatory as to it’s 6 Tony wins, including Best Musical and Best Score and 3 Olivier Awards.

I was lucky enough to win tickets through their £20 Lottery scheme on TodayTix, I was ridiculously excited about this as it was my 2nd time I’d entered anything on the app! It’s incredible and you have the opportunity to enter a couple of times for different shows, Dreamgirls has a £15 Front Row Lottery too! BEG,BORROW, STEAAAAL to get your tickets!
