I’ll be the first to admit it’s been a while… way way too long. I’m not even lying though, I actually did try and keep up with my blog and write as often as I could, BUT… caravan site wifi is shocking and doesn’t like to save any of your documents LOL.
So what have I been up to? Well, what haven’t I been up to! My plans changed for summer so instead of working abroad like I originally intended, due to some disorganization (some being a mega understatement) and wanting to be closer to home, I decided to stay in England working at a holiday park in Essex. I applied to ridiculous amounts of entertainment jobs and actually had to turn some down! I successfully auditioned to become a Trouper for Parkdean Resorts and I finished working for the company last week.
By no means was being a Trouper a normal job, I did party dances by the pool nearly every day and every night, did game shows with the families, ran bingo and hosted evenings with the Starland Krew and met some really awesome and talented acts such as magicians, comedians and even a take that tribute band along the way! Personal fave has to be Stevi Ritchie who was on the X-Factor who’s a top guy. Living the life of a Trouper was mega fun but so exhausting, most days you’d work from 10 until 1am the following morning. It was completely crazy but one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, getting to make people’s holidays and bond with the families who come on holiday was lovely and it’s something that I’ll never forget. My passion is making people happy and entertained so it was the perfect role for me.
Since being a Trouper for summer, what am I up to now? Well let me tell you. I moved into my first house… EEEEEEK! It’s such a weird experience because although I lived in university halls last year, it’s an entirely different experience and I’m not sure how I feel about it yet, some things I absolutely love, freedom to decorate, do your own thing and make it your own. Some things I hate and loathe entirely, such as being a proper adult, having to sort out what companies you’re going to use for your bills, arranging your council tax exemption, TV licenses, how to work all these fancy appliances in your new home. It’s so weird and something that your parents did which you never really appreciated up until this point in life where you have to work it all out for yourself. You live in fear that your bills may be more than you expected them to be despite the fact that your bills are capped…
But other than that, I have loads of things to look forward to, such as going to Amsterdam this time next week with my gorgeous sibling, we’ve decided to rename our trip ‘FAMSTERDAM’ which we thought was hilarious. There’s also my Great Gatsby themed 21st in October which I CANNOT wait for. I’m going to Rome for some of the Christmas Holidays with my lovely boyfriend and also as a birthday present, he’s booked for us to go to New York in February for a couple of days and we’re seeing a Broadway show and going to a New York Knicks basketball game. Got to do it the American way right?
This leads me on to the next thing I need to update you all on… you’re probably wondering how in the hell I’m affording all of this. Well, pretty simply, I have a lot of jobs. I work as a singing teacher for two theatre schools and from next week I’m starting a job at one of my most favorite shops in the whole wide world and I can’t wait, I’m only going to be working at LUSH. I can’t wait for my friends and family to absolutely abuse my 50% discount over christmas time, I’ll be abusing it myself and my gifts to everyone will be sorted, and also the bathroom in my new house is going to be completely filled with bath bombs and pretty smelling items 24/7, it’ll be perfect.
On that note, that’s about it really. Again, I can only apologize for my absolute lack of posts but I’ve had so many ideas and I have so much free time to write before I go back to university so you’ll be pretty sick of me soon! See you later!
